Hi You! I’m happy you ended up here. Hopefully you could one day find something that touches your heart, stirs up your thoughts, or lifts up your spirit!
This blog isn’t about something specific, like of a topic or a hobby. It’s created as an outlet for any kind of thoughts I might have about life, humanity, emotions, reason, faith… Just opinions, experiences, lessons learned, general pondering, hopes and dreams, beauty and pain of life, basic garrulity, etc. To me a blog post can be anything from one sentence to a longer story, from a picture to a video, from a song to a link etc. – I don’t want to force them in any predefined frames.
It’s like in life itself – I don’t want to be fixated on the decor or stage, but rather admire the spectacle itself; concentrate on functions instead of parameters; value the data instead of matrix; focus on the bigger picture, including the immense variety of aspects in our existence without walls or other restrictions.
I have no idea about how often or rarely I’ll write; I just wish to keep the threshold for “decoding the content of my mind & soul into words” as low as possible, re-connect with my inner analyzer and poet, and find the long lost joy in writing again. Time will tell what shall come out this experiment!
Ok, let me tell you how I came to choose this blog name. I was trying hard to figure out something metaphoric that would, in a way, resonate with my soul. So I kept turning around and playing with words like mind, thought, soul etc. but all the names I suggested were already taken. When I finally found myself thinking about core, after some time the word “hardcore” came to me. And then I twisted it into “heartcore”. Why’s that?
Thinking about hard core (literally) carried my mind to the book of Ezekiel in the Bible:
“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” Ezk 36:26 (NIV)
I don’t want to have a heart of stone, or a hard core. I want to have free, living, loving, Spirit filled heart. And I do want to be very “heartful/l”, starting from my very inmost. Therefore I’m going for heartcore over hardcore. How about you?
“Why are some posts written in a strange language I don’t understand?”
My native language is Finnish, thus especially longer posts might be published in Finnish. At least at first. It’s up to my energy and motivation to translate them into English – or the other way around. It would be good practice though, although I don’t or won’t (be able to) write perfect English. I’ll try to do my best to manage both languages to some extent. We’ll see how it goes!
Later I realized that the letters h & c are also the sole consonants in my nickname, so HeartCore/HC is very suitable for me in that sense as well. = )
